TRIO and GEAR UP Advocacy Campaign
In light of possible budget cuts to TRIO and GEAR UP that would impact thousands of low-income, first-generation college potential and disabled individuals, NASP has collaborated with the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and several organizations to launch an advocacy campaign to protect funding for TRIO and GEAR UP. This page contains a summary of our efforts.

Your participation, along with your staff, students, and alumni is critical to this effort.

What You and Your Staff Can Do

Sign the Petition
Please visit COE Petition (Click HERE) and sign and sign an important petition asking Congress and the White House to preserve funding for TRIO and GEAR UP, and ask all of your contacts within your state to do the same.

Once you have signed the petition, your congressional delegation (including both Senators and your Representative) will be contacted by change.org to let them know of your support. This is a very easy way to support your students and programs while also getting attention for TRIO and GEAR UP in Washington, DC.

Post the petition to your Facebook and Twitter pages.

Get five friends to sign the petition.

Contact Your Congressional Delegation

Call your House Representative via the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
You can find your legislators information by clicking here.
Deliver the message: “Tell [LEGISLATOR NAME] not to cut TRIO and GEAR UP in the debt ceiling and FY 2012 negotiations!”
