Election of these positions is staggered to avoid having a completely new board. For this reason we accept nominations according to the following schedule:
Even years: President-Elect, Treasurer, Active Non-TRIO
Odd years: President-Elect, Secretary
All NASP members will have a chance to vote on the "at-large" positions of President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and Active Non-TRIO Representative. All candidates must have their statements sent in advance to the Chair of the Nominations Committee (the Past President) by March 15th for online elections. State Officers are the duly elected presidents of their respective states and not voted on by the NASP membership as per by-law changes in December 2007. College and Pre-college representative positions were eliminated as per changes to the by-laws in January 2011.
We need you all to consider leadership positions in NASP. The rewards are great, and you'll gain an inside understanding of how NASP, COE, and the Department of Education work. The office of President-elect will also be a member of the national board of the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE). All three Presidents in the region serve on the Council's board and travel to meetings in December, May, and September. We strongly encourage you all to nominate yourself for a position. The experience will broaden your perspective in TRIO and allow you even greater opportunity to effect changes in our region.
Committee positions are also available. Please volunteer to help out. You will be richly rewarded by your participation.
Sincerely,
Scott Clyde, President (2006-2007) Vicki Trier, President (2010-2011)
